In 1976, the United States celebrated the bicentennial. In Philadelphia, the Phillies also excited the city as they marched toward their first postseason since 1950.
In the middle of that glorious summer, Mike Schmidt, Larry Bowa, Greg Luzinski, Garry Maddox and Dave Cash went into Queen Village Studios, a recording studio on the corner or 4th and Catherine Streets to record a song for Grand Prix Records called “Phillies Fever.”
My grandmother bought me the record and took me to a mall in Harrisburg to get autographs of the players (still one of my most cherished items of baseball memorabilia). Listening to it now, the actual song is painfully bad. But the memories of that team are so sweet I was inspired to create a 6 card set celebrating them.
