Hoyt Wilhelm Career Set

A few weeks ago I got an email from the Hoyt Wilhelm Fan Page on Twitter, asking me if I was interested in creating some art and custom cards for his favorite player. I am always looking for new ideas and challenges… so I accepted.

Hoyt was a little before my time (he retired during the 1972 season when I was 6 years old), so I needed to do a little research on this Hall of Famer. I knew he played for the White Sox and had a very long career, but was surprised to learn he played for 9 different teams. He was the first pitcher to reach 200 saves, and the first to appear in 1,000 games.

The result of this inquiry led to the creation of our first “career set” celebrating the entire career of a significant ballplayer.
