One of my favorite pitchers has always been J.R. Richard. He was the most intimidating pitcher in the game when I started following baseball. A few years ago I had the opportunity to meet J.R. at the Negro League Baseball Museum, and he could not have been nicer.
One of my favorite J.R. Richard stories: J.R.’s senior year at Lincoln High School (Ruston, La) he did not give up a run for the entire season. In one game he hit four consecutive home runs while pitching his team to a 48–0 victory against its local rival, Jonesboro’s Jackson High School. Richard, whose baseball idol was St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Bob Gibson, never lost a game he started in his high school career.
I am loving the process of learning Procreate on my new iPad. Here is my latest.
